Valid Driving Permit Required
Tourists must have a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) + Sri Lanka endorsement. We can arrange the endorsement for you within a few hours.
Left-Side Driving in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka follows left-hand driving. Please take a few minutes to get used to the road flow before starting your journey.
Maximum Passenger Limit
A tuk-tuk can carry a maximum of 2–3 passengers comfortably. For safety, do not exceed the recommended capacity.
Speed Limit & Road Rules
The speed limit for Tuk Tuks is generally 30–40 km/h. Always follow road signs and avoid driving on highways (expressways are not allowed for Tuk Tuks).
Fuel Type & Refilling
Tuk Tuks use Petrol (Octane 92 or 95). Fuel stations are available nationwide. The average fuel cost is low, making it a very budget-friendly option.
